Château Carbonnieux is one of the oldest wine estates in Bordeaux, with origins dating back to the Middle Ages. Vines have been cultivated there since the 13th century. The first owners, the Benedictine monks of the Sainte Croix Abbey in Bordeaux, quickly brought international renown to the estate's wines, both red and white. Since 1956, the Perrin family has managed the estate, now represented by Eric, Christine, Philibert, Marc, and Andréa Perrin.
The estate, located in Léognan, south of Bordeaux, spans a gravelly rise with a clay-limestone subsoil. The 55 hectares dedicated to red wines are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (40%), Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. As for the 45 hectares of white vines, they are predominantly made up of Sauvignon Blanc (68%), complemented by Sémillon (30%) and Sauvignon Gris.
Château Carbonnieux's red wines are a must for any connoisseur, offering cherry aromas with a subtle mineral touch, in a classic style. The white wines, elegant and lively, stand out with notes of lemon and white pepper. The estate also produces La Croix de Carbonnieux, a second wine in both white and red, made from parcel selections of the Classified Growth.
