Closerie Saint Roch 2019 is a 16-hectare estate owned by the Amoreau family. Its clay-loam and sandy soils rest on a limestone bedrock, rising to an altitude between 80 and 106 meters above sea level (nicknamed the "Bordeaux Alps"). The blend consists of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard practices a holistic approach, incorporating agrobiology, biodynamics (Ecocert and Demeter certifications), as well as elements of agroforestry and permaculture. In the cellar, fermentations are done naturally by infusion with indigenous yeasts, without the use of synthetic products. The wine is aged for 24 months in mature foudres, without filtration or fining.
The 2019 vintage of Saint Roch reveals a particularly ripe, consistent, and enticing nose. From the first pour, its juicy and sincere red fruit aromas immediately captivate the drinker. Fresh notes of blackcurrant, licorice-tinged cherries, along with hints of menthol and floral violet, stand out. The fine, elongated texture is perfectly framed by a delicate oak influence. The silky, stretched tannins give way to a persistent finish that leaves you wanting more.
