This Fleur de sel is extracted from a saltworks located in the Camargue, in the south of France, and is distinguished by its pinkish hue resulting from the abundance of micro-prawns, a food source for the region's flamingos. These crystals are distinguished by their pronounced iodized flavor. The iconic landscapes of the Camargue, including salt marshes and pink flamingos, are world famous. It is often described as "the only Fleur de sel in France harvested from a pink sea". The salt of this region, exploited since Antiquity, benefits from favorable geographical conditions: soils naturally rich in salt, flat terrain and low rainfall which favor evaporation and therefore harvest. Its unique taste, reminiscent of oysters, is characterized by its high iodine content.
